About Sakeenah

Last updated: August 27, 2026

Sakeenah is a personal journaling and reflection app, built to be a quiet place to think - not another feed to scroll.

Why I built this

This didn't start as a grand product idea; it started as a favor. Someone very close to me was looking for a quiet, distraction-free journaling app, and I offered to build a simple version for them. But as I started writing the code, it turned into something much bigger.

I'd been wanting to journal myself for a long time - to actually sit down and reflect on my own behaviors, habits, and choices instead of just letting the days pass. Like a lot of people, I kept putting it off. Life gets busy, and "I'll start tomorrow" has a way of becoming a permanent excuse. I've had my own stretches of real discipline and stretches of losing it entirely, and I know firsthand how much clarity comes from actually sitting with your thoughts instead of avoiding them.

Building Sakeenah became my way of finally making that habit stick - and of connecting that process of self-reflection to my faith in a way that felt natural, not forced. I'm building this alone, in whatever time I can find outside of school, and it's genuinely become one of my favorite things to work on.

On privacy

Your journal entries are stored locally, on your device. I don't read them, and I don't sell them. If you choose to sign in with Google, your data is also backed up to the cloud so it isn't tied to a single device - that's entirely optional, and up to you. For the full legal detail, see the Privacy Policy.

What Sakeenah is (and isn't)

Sakeenah is a calm, minimal space for personal reflection - journaling, tracking the habits and goals you're working on, and small daily moments built around prayer times and reflection. It is not a social platform - there are no likes, followers, or public profiles. It is also not a substitute for professional mental health support; if you're going through something difficult, please reach out to a qualified professional.

What's next

Sakeenah is actively being developed - more features are on the way, and I'm working on bringing it to iOS next. If you have feedback, ideas, or something you wish the app did differently, I'd genuinely like to hear it.
